The McComb Community Choir will perform a free, one-hour concert Sunday afternoon, singing a selection of Christmas songs followed by the seven short movements of Pergolesi’s “Magnificat” at New Heights Baptist Church.
The performance begins at 2:30 p.m.
The choir is made up of members from Centenary United Methodist Church, South Mississippi Community College and New Heights. The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra will accompany them.
“Everyone has been working extremely hard,” said Christopher Hart, a member and assistant director of the choir and the music minister at Centenary.
SMCC choir director Joe Elliott, a member of New Heights, is the choir’s director.
Sunday’s performance will be the third for the choir in recent weeks.
“We had two performances in September at Centenary Methodist Church, so we are hoping to draw a similar crowd at New Heights Baptist,” Hart said, adding that the choir members have been working hard throughout the fall.
