On its first day, Sound of Freedom surpassed Indiana Jones in ticket sales, even though it had practically no major advertising. Its only marketing consists of word of mouth and social media.
Grace and I saw it. It's a good movie and riveting. But most important, it tells the story of Tim Ballard, who rescues children from sex trafficking. Grace and I met Tim at a fundraiser in Franklin, Tenn. for the group he founded, Underground Railroad -- a contemporary use of an old name currently used for saving children.
The most poignant statement from the movie, "God's children are not for sale."
(I believe God has a special hell for those who abuse kids.) Parts of the movie are difficult to watch. Our daughter, Ashley, had to leave the theater after 10 minutes of watching to go outside to cry. She did not return. That's good. It's time we stop being immune to the chaos around us because it makes us uncomfortable and take action against those malevolent forces that seek to undermine our families and society.
But I strongly plead for you to see the movie. Despite Hollywood's woke stance, Disney originally held the rights to air the movie, but declined. Interesting side note: Disney's last eight films have cumulatively lost almost a billion dollars; the one thing they kowtow to more than leftist causes is the almighty dollar.
Simply put, by watching the Sound of Freedom, you can help send a message to Hollywood and all the woke masses that the silent majority clamors for entertainment that does not worship at the altar of leftwing ideology and desires clean-cut films.
One last point: at the movie's conclusion, a small statement at the bottom of the screen requests you stay seated until the end of the credits for a special message. I thought it would be something about supporting Underground Railroad. It was not. Instead, it was an appeal by Jim Caviezel, the actor who played Ballard (and who played Jesus in the Passion of Christ), encouraging movie attendees to spread the word about the movie.
Which is what I'm doing now by asking you to see it. And if you like it, I ask you to make the same request to your circle of friends.
