The Clarion Ledger is continuing its preseason polls to determine who the top players in the state are by position, and Centreville's Liam Schwartz and Tylertown's Landon Thompson each made the cut in the athlete category.
Last season, Schwartz accounted for 14 total touchdowns with 1,310 all-purpose yards, while he also tallied 62 tackles with 7.5 tackles for loss and an interception.
Yet somehow, Landon Thompson may one-up the Centreville product. Thompson racked up 870 receiving yards, 1,308 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns, and he tacked on a dozen tackles. And on top of all that, Thompson also handles all of the kicking duties for the Chiefs.
Schwartz and Thompson join 17 other players in the voting, which concludes at noon on Sunday and can be found at this link.
