In the quarterfinals of the MHSAA 3A Playoffs, Franklin County battled Seminary in the first half before ultimately falling by a score of 15-3 on Friday in Seminary.
The top-seeded Bulldogs were tied with the second-seeded Bulldogs (8-5) at halftime, as they found themselves in a defensive struggle before Seminary was able to pull away in the latter stages of the game.
Franklin County finishes its resurgent 2025 campaign with a 7-6 overall record and a 4-0 mark in district play under second-year head coach Jonathan Brooks, a four-win improvement from the previous year.
After beginning the season at 1-4, the Bulldogs reeled off four wins in their final five games to cruise through district play and qualify for the postseason as a top seed.
A dominant 42-6 victory over St. Patrick and a hard-fought 23-20 win against Magee preceded this quarterfinal game.
Kentwood ousted by Ascension Episcopal in Division IV second round
In the second round of the Division IV Select Playoffs, Kentwood narrowly lost to Ascension Episcopal by a score of 17-14 on Friday in Lafayette.
The second-seeded Kangaroos couldn’t maintain their recent offensive hot streak against the top-seeded Gators (10-1), as they had averaged 41.3 points in their previous three games.
Kentwood finishes its 2025 campaign with a 7-5 overall record and a 2-1 mark in district play.
After starting the season at 2-3, Cornelious Blount’s team had won five of its last six leading into this second-round game.
