Amite County was one of many high schools across the nation that participated in Signing Day festivities Wednesday, as a quartet of Trojans pledged to further their careers at the collegiate level.
Lineman Lee'Andre Slack committed to Pearl River C.C., fellow lineman Tykedric Bell will join Co-Lin, another lineman in Marcus Day is heading to Daytona Christian University while quarterback Marquavius McGhee Jr. is heading to Texas College.
In the fall, Slack, Bell and Day allowed their offense to average 7.8 yards per carry and a mind-boggling 266.9 rushing yards per game. Their consistently strong performances up front helped Amite County achieve an 8-3 overall record and a playoff victory.
All three of those players also lined up on the defensive side of the ball, as they combined for 52 total tackles, nine tackles for loss and three sacks. Playing both ways in the trenches is among the toughest jobs in football, yet these three made it look normal.
Meanwhile, McGhee Jr. has been a leader for the Trojans' program for years, and he produced his best season to-date in 2025. The signal-caller threw for 1,097 yards, ran for another 521 and accounted for 20 total touchdowns while throwing just two interceptions.
