The MAIS released its All-MAIS postseason football teams recently, and 15 local athletes were chosen by coaches from around the state.
Parklane Academy head coach Ron Rushing was named 4A D-II Coach of the Year after leading the Pioneers to their second straight state title.
The Pioneers also landed plenty of players on the 4A All-MAIS squad. The offensive unit featured lineman Arrocus Baskin, wide receiver Davis Carruth and all-purpose athlete Kardez Copeland. Meanwhile, linebacker Jay Alldredge, lineman Paw Forrest, edge rusher Telvin Jefferson and cornerback Kayden Jackson were selected to the defensive side.
At the 3A level, Amite School Center wide receiver Will Walsh was named to the offensive team.
And from 2A, Centreville's state-title team received plenty of honors as well. Receiver/safety John Austin Sterling was named the classification's Player of the Year, while legendary head coach Bill Hurst was named D-I Coach of the Year after securing his 10th championship.
In addition, tailback Garrett Jeansonne, all-purpose athlete Peyton Toler, lineman Bryce Watts and Sterling all cracked the 2A offensive roster. And defensively, edge rusher Rett Hatcher and the brotherly duo of Kayde and Preston Redmond represented the Tigers.
