Two McComb selectmen who lost re-election bids were among those voting to terminate City Administrator David Myers on Friday evening.
The vote was 3-2. Selectmen Ronnie Brock and Devante Johnson, both defeated in the May 3 Democratic primary, voted with Selectman Donovan Hill to remove Myers. Selectmen Shawn Williams and Michael Cameron opposed.
Myers came out of an executive session while it was still going on and reported his termination. He expressed concerns about the way Brock and Johnson have handled city business.
“I’ve been hampered from the beginning since I’ve been here with certain selectmen, in particular Selectman Brock and Selectman Johnson,” Myers said. “In particular, those guys are being involved in day-to-day operations by allowing city employees to come straight to them rather than to bring the issues to be handled by the city administrator.”
Brock and Johnson did not comment after the board meeting, with Brock noting it was a personnel matter.
