Mystery mound rises from Bogue Chitto swamp

When is a rounded hill that contains arrowheads an Indian mound, and when is it an “erosional remnant?” For amateur archaeologists and woods-trompers, that is the question.

When I was a 20-year-old anthropology student at Memphis State University, I took an archaeology professor to an “Indian mound” I had found in the Mississippi River swamps north of town.
