In an effort to attract more of the best students, Southwest Mississippi Community College trustees approved changes to the academic scholarship policy for the next school year during Tuesday’s meeting.
“The biggest difference is our commitment to attracting the students who have scored higher on the ACT,” SMCC President Dr. Steve Bishop said. “We’re making an effort to continue to attract the high-ability students. We would like to increase the number of students in that category. We have several students with a 30 or higher score on the ACT, and we would like to reward those students with a very competitive academic scholarship.”
