Pike County sheriff’s deputies found a man’s body inside a former McComb police officer’s truck after receiving a 911 call, an investigator said.
Rene Jones, 52, was found dead Sunday in Greg Robinson’s truck, which was parked at Robinson’s residence on 1690 Magnolia-Progress Road. Robinson allegedly shot Jones in the head. Deputies recovered a handgun at the scene, which could have been the possible weapon, chief investigator Chris Bell said.
Bell said the motive of the killing is unclear, but it has been determined that Robinson allegedly shot Jones in the truck.
Robinson was one of 10 men arrested in 2003 in connection with a case involving a prostitution ring, in which a McComb man regularly took two teenage girls, ages 14 and 17, to a trailer where eight emigrants were staying.
Robinson was indicted on charges of sexual battery, conspiracy to commit sexual battery and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The District Attorney’s office dropped charges against Robinson in 2007 because of problems with the alleged victim’s testimony.
