A man riding a bicycle died after being struck from behind by a FedEx van Saturday, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

James Neidrauer, 48, Tylertown, was pronounced dead on the scene after the 9:55 a.m. wreck on Highway 98 near the intersection with Mesa Walker’s Bridge Road in Walthall County.

Neidrauer was pedaling east in the eastbound lane when he was struck by the 2007 Chevrolet FedEx van driven by Dana Williams, 24, of Franklinton, La., said patrol spokesman Brandon Fortenberry.

A car in front of the van had swerved to the left to avoid the bicyclist and the van didn’t swerve in time, Fortenberry said. Williams was not injured.
