District Attorney Dee Bates has gained the lead over Republican challenger Joey Norton Bates’ in bid for a fifth term.

The 14th Circuit Court District covers Pike, Lincoln and Walthall counties.

With all precincts reporting in Lincoln and Walthall counties and just seven of 25 precincts reporting in Pike County, Bates is leading 10,797 (51%) to 10,311 (4p%).

Norton, an attorney from Brookhaven, carried Lincoln County 6,531-3,869.

Bates, a Democrat seeking his fifth term, led Walthall County 2,885 to 1472.

Bates was leading in his home of Pike County 4,043 to 2,308.
