Posted: Sunday, September 30, 2012 8:00 am

Kendrick Cowart escaped a murder conviction but could still wind up spending 40-plus years in prison after a jury found him guilty Friday of armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Cowart, 26, of Summit was tried on the three charges in connection with the robbery and slaying of Sue Carter, 57, at Express Check Cash on July 10, 2009.

My heart goes out to Ms Carter's family. Where is the justice in all this? I feel that the punishment shoould fit the crime. There would be alot less crimes if this was in place. They basically got a slap on the wrist. That is what's wrong with our society today. No punishment, no consequences for their actions. These men will have to stand before God and answer for what they did. Justice will be served then.

What happened to Mrs. Peggy Sue Carter is horrible, I can only imagine what her family is going through. No one want to lose a loved one that way. My heart goes out to the Carter Family may they find peace and Justice for whomever is responsible for taken the innocent life of Mrs. Carter. May her soul rest in Peace.

What is the DA thinking? To offer plea bargain to two felons against a person who has no criminal background. O-K he robbed the lady, he was at the scene, she is dead, but the robber goes free of murder, manslaughter, conspiracy of murder, etc. Where is justice? Maybe just maybe when he goes to prison the felons will give him justice. -concerned citizen
