Junious Ray Norton
Junious Ray Norton. 83, of Summit, died July 20, 2008, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at Jones family Funeral Services in McComb and 9 a.m. Tuesday at Life Point Church of the Nazarene in McComb until a celebration of his life there at 11. The Revs. Don Ballard, Fred Cook, Hugh Lambert and Mickey Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Johnston Chapel Cemetery in Summit.
Mr. Norton was born May 11, 1935, in Norfield, to Felix and Lucy King Norton.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of McComb and over the years served on the church board and taught youth Sunday school classes. He worked for Lott furniture for 28 ½ years. He then opened Norton Furniture Barn and operated it for 13 years. Most recently he worked at Wal-Mart in McComb. He served in the Army. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Joe B. Smith; a brother, Howard Norton; and a sister, Mary Louise Baker.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Roberts Norton of Summit; a son, Mark Norton and wife Rhonda of Summit; a daughter, Rebecca Meades and husband Allen of Summit; a brother, David Norton and wife Betty of Jackson; and a grandchild, Jana McKae Norton.
Pallbearers will be Darin Ballard, Sid Emmert, Buddy Roberts, Stacey Norton, Gene Norton and Scott Faulk.
Virginia D. Williams
Virginia Dunaway Williams, 78, of Gillsburg, died July, 19, 2008, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
A private memorial service celebrating her life was held Sunday at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.Mrs. Williams was born March 1, 1930, in McComb to Hardy L. and Vetta Boyd Dunaway.
She was a 51-year resident of the Port Arthur and Beaumont, Texas, area.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Charles Dunaway; and one sister, Lexie Summers.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Elliott Belmont Williams; two sons, Elliott Dirk Williams of Sour Lake, Texas and James Teddy Williams of Gillsburg; grandchildren, Jennifer Smith and her husband Sam of Terry, Jeff Williams of Nederland, Texas, and Sheena and Shannon Williams of Kountz, Texas; a great-grandson who was the joy of her life, Spencer Smith of Terry; one brother, Harold L. Dunaway and his wife Masel of Abingdon, Va.; and two sisters, Mildred Brister of McComb and Dorothy McGehee and her husband Bobby of Jackson.

Frances M. Godbold Boyd
Frances M. Godbold Boyd, 96, of McComb, died July 20, 2008, at McComb Nursing and Rehab.
Services were 1 p.m. today at North McComb Baptist Church, with Dr. Ken Kirk and the Rev. Lee Castello officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Brookhaven.
Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Boyd was born July 18, 1912, in Lincoln County to Lemuel “Lem” and Lula Boyt Kyzar.
She was a homemaker and was a charter member of North McComb Baptist Church.
Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her parents and her two husbands, Sherell M. Godbold Sr. and Merton Boyd.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Jan Godbold of Bogue Chitto, Marvin and Dot Godbold of McComb, and Don and Sue Godbold of Brookhaven; two stepsons and their wives, Ivery and Judy Boyd of Summit, and Chris and Marie Boyd of Columbus, Ga.; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and K.C. Avery of Springfield, Va.; one stepdaughter, Irene Travis of Summit; grandchildren, Vicky Poirrier and her husband Russell of Terry, Gabe Burke and her husband Brian of Ruth, Darlene O’Quin and her husband Mitch of Mandeville, La.; Regan Avery of Springfield and Brad Godbold and his wife Jennifer of Terry; seven great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Louise Cathey.

Betty Sue Smith
Betty Sue Smith, 71, of Tylertown, died there July 18, 2008, at Billdora Nursing Home.
Services were 2 p.m. Sunday at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home in Tylertown. The Rev. Buddy Day officiated. Burial was in Tylertown Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born June 30, 1937, in Lincoln County, to James and Ruby Johnson Keen.
She was a school teacher.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Duane Smith.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dane and Linda Smith of Covington, La., and Shan and Mary Smith of Tylertown; a brother, James Keen Jr. of Brookhaven; a sister, Aris D’Andrea of Troy, Ala.; three grandchildren, Sarah, Nathan and Neely Smith; two step-grandchildren and their spouses, Carrie and Rocky Guyllette and Tara and Chris Albers; and three step-great-grandchildren, James and Thomas Guyllette, and Dallas Albers.
Pallbearers were David Shivers, Jim Johnson, Joe Dowe, Bruce Wood, Robert Jones and Max Luter. Honorary pallbearers were Adris Brock, Neil Smith, Jerry Holmes and Jimmy O’Quin.
Harold Smith
Harold Smith, 86, of the Enon community in Walthall County, died July1 9, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Tylertown.
Visitation began at 12:30 p.m. today at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb and continued until services there at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Dave Heddon officiating. Burial was in Enon Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born Feb. 11, 1922, in Foxworth to Colbert Smith and Lucille Morgan Smith.
He was a member of Enon Baptist Church and Enon Masonic Lodge.
He also was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Thelma Irene Reid Smith; five brothers and a grandchild, Melissa Paige Smith.
Survivors include one son, Roy Smith and his wife Peggy of Covington, La.; one daughter, Beverly Smith Hughes and her husband Larry of Tylertown; one sister, Frances Fortenberry of Tylertown; one grandson, Rory Myles Smith and his wife Kristen of Covington; two granddaughters and their husbands, Sheri and Donnie Buras and Teri and Justin Hawn, all of Tylertown; one great-grandchild, Logan Smith of Covington; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Pallbearers were Lennie Bossier, Terry Boyd, Calvin McEwen, Travis Marbury, Rory Smith and Milton Dunaway.
