Flippers finish strong

The Fernwood Flippers had their first gold medal winner at the City Meet Finals on Saturday as Ben Lampton won the boys 9 and 10 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 48.75.
Lampton finished seventh in the 100-yard individual medley and sixth in the 25-yard fly.
Taylor Murray almost pulled off a win in the girls 9 and 10 25-yard breaststroke, finishing second at 21.38. Beth Dowdy took seventh in the same race.
Murray also finished third in the 50-yard freestyle and sixth in the 25-yard backstroke.
Oliver Smith also finished as the runner-up in the 6 and under 25-yard backstroke with a time of 27.03. Brady Johnson finished fourth and Jacks Dowdy finished seventh in the same race.
Johnson finished third in the 6 and under 25-yard freestyle, while Jacks Dowdy was fourth and Smith sixth.
Jacob Johnson was the lone swimmer in the boys 7 and 8 division and finished in fifth in the 50-yard freestyle. He also took seventh in the 8 and under 25-yard breaststroke.
In the girls 9 and 10 division, Beth Dowdy finished eighth in the 25-yard backstroke, and she finished fifth in the 25-yard breaststroke. Leighton Freeman took eighth.
Elliot Watt took seventh in the boys 9 and 10 50-yard freestyle and fifth in the 25-yard fly.
Anne Tullos was the only swimmer for the Flippers in the girls 11 and 12 division. She finished sixth in the 100-yard free and the 50-yard backstroke.
Fernwood’s best finish in the relays was the 9- and 10-year-old boys medley relay team that took fourth. Wayne Dowdy, Cole Blue, Lampton and Watt swam the relay for the Flippers. They also finished sixth in the freestyle relay.
Beth Dowdy, Georgia Lee Milton, Leighton Freeman and Taylor Murray took sixth in the girls 9 and 10 freestyle relay and seventh in the medley relay.
The boys 8 and under relay teams finished seventh in both the freestyle and medley relays.
Brady Johnson, Jake Passman, Collins Sanders and Jacob Johnson swam the freestyle, while Quentin Smith replaced Saners in the medley.
